Dear Friends and Family of YPM,

In these days when the whole world has been affected by Covid-19, life as we knew it in the past has been changed for YPM in Mexico just as here in the United States. Businesses have been closed, jobs have been lost, churches have been unable to meet in person, and students of YPM Institute have switched to on-line instruction. The virus has swept through the area, and many have been sick, although Wilian, Erly, Willy, and Andre have remained safe. Recently one of the students of YPM Institute died of Covid-19, and Ermilo, the director of YPM Institute, and his whole family were ill from the virus with his mother spending a period of time in the hospital. Groups are unable to travel to Mexico to work on projects with YPM, and the focus of current projects has changed to better serve the needs of the people in the Zona Maya at this time. With the help of area pastors and community volunteers, Wilian has put together a project to deliver food to those in need throughout the area. Churches and individuals here in the U.S. have donated to help purchase a large amount of food which has recently been delivered to the elderly, the very poor, mothers of young children, church members, pastors, teachers from YPM Institute, and others in need. A special thank-you to First Presbyterian Church of San Antonio for a large financial donation to help with this project as well as to those individuals and other churches who have helped to make this possible through their generous donations. Your YPM Board wanted to share this exciting project with you. The photos speak for themselves. Plans are under way to repeat this project next month, and another project to prepare and deliver meals in Leona Vicario will begin next week. For those of you who wish to help support this effort, donations are appreciated. We ask that you continue to pray for Wilian, Erly, Willy, and Andre, for the work of YPM at this critical time, and for the people of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Update 7/1/2020:

Wilian, Erly, and company delivered a second round of supplies to the Mayan communities for Covid-19 relief. Some of our friends in the photos below include Louis and his wife in Nuevo Durango, who lived next door to the church we helped with; the Mt. Horeb church in Tres Reyes with Cesar and Felipe; and Jesus is our Shepard church in Tres Reyes. It is great to be part of this effort and see that our friends are well.
