WE HAVE WATER!!

On February 10, 2021, Living Waters for the World and YPM opened a new purified water plant in Leona Vicario! In the first two hours, 60+ bottles were sold! Ch’e’en Ja’ Agua Purificada (translated: water from the well) is now providing safe and inexpensive water to the people of Leona Vicario and the surrounding villages. The response from the community has been very positive and we are already needing to purchase more bottles, and hire more staff and delivery drivers.

Living Waters for the World partners with organizations like YPM to empower communities to install and sustain safe water purification systems and health education programs that transform lives. This partnership was made possible by generous donations and extensive training from First Presbyterian Church San Antonio and individual supporters.

This new plant offers bottles of water at almost half the price of that available in local grocery stores and is delicious and available for delivery. Many of the homes in Leona Vicario do not have safe potable water, so this new plant will continue to promote our mission of building resiliency, sustainability and improving the health of the local residents. Several local residents have been trained to run the plant and two of Instituto YPM students are also working at the plant. Within the month, Wilian believes the plant will be running smoothly, making a profit and they will be able to invest in other delivery options.

The covid-19 vaccine is slowly making its way through Mexico, however it is likely that the small communities like Leona Vicario will not be receiving the vaccines any time soon. The food distribution is still ongoing.

Thank you so much for all your love, prayers and financial support.
