Happy Summer Dear Friends and Family of YPM!

It’s been awhile since the last newsletter and we’ve got lots of news to share with you…

Mission Trip Groups to Leona Vicario Have Resumed!

With thanks to God, we have been blessed with some fantastic mission trip and construction groups this year and so much continues to be accomplished! If you haven’t been on a YPM trip in awhile, you won’t believe how much the Instituto campus is growing and what an amazing ministry is happening in this special part of the Yucatan.

Northminster Presbyterian Church of Peoria, IL sent construction groups during 2 weeks in January, who worked on the perimeter wall around the university. This group had several sets of twins on the work crew - see if you can match up the siblings ;)

First Presbyterian Church San Antonio brought a group of 24 in May, and did a ton of hard work shoveling rocks and sand to make cement, carrying beams, and constructing the columns, and much more for the second story floor for the second classroom building. In addition they spent some time hanging out meeting local kids in the community, playing basketball in a local tournament with kids from Leona Vicario and Puerto Morelos, and visited a nearby cenote.

First Presbyterian Church of Morrison, IL brought a group of 12 in June, who worked hard mixing and passing buckets of concrete to construct the support pillars for the second story of the classroom building. They also led a Vacation Bible School for the local children, which is ALWAYS a big hit! They took a side trip to visit the ruins at Tulum and a stop at Akumal for a little fun at the beach.

Wilian and Erly Family Update

Andre, Wilian and Erly’s younger son, has finished one year of high school (YPM) and is doing very well with his subjects and with the English language. Willie, the older son, is currently serving his internship at a government  hospital in Cancun. The patients he treats feel cared for and the doctors say that he will be a great doctor. He loves and enjoys what he does. Thanks to God, to you and to the friends who believed in him. Willie is very grateful and asked us to greet you and express words of gratitude.

Erly’s father had a stroke in May, but is home and in therapy. He’s recovering very well, and enjoying his daughters and granddaughters surrounding him and caring for him.

Wilian’s mother passed away this summer, after a long illness. She was surrounded by her family and will be missed greatly.
