Friday, December 31, 2021

Happy New Year to you and your family!

First, a personal note from Wilian: “I want to tell you that as a family we are well. Willie is two years away from completing his studies to be a doctor. He is currently studying virtually and living at home. Andre will finish high school next year. He will study at YPM High School and we will live at the base in Leona Vicario until he is done. We are excited about what God is doing and we put ourselves in His hands. Thank you for all your love, support and prayers and we wish you a very Happy 2022!”

After a long flight delay, Wilian and Erly arrived in Denver on Wednesday evening. On Thursday morning, they joined me and some members of my church in bringing Communion to one of my home-bound members who had just turned 103 years old. Sad News...

Wednesday, June 30, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we let you know about the passing of our dear friend and sister Mari.
If you’ve been on a mission trip with YPM, you’ve met Mari. She, along with her mother Tere, have been the cooks at the YPM base for many years. Mari was always quick to help, enjoyed joining in the morning skits, knew and adored all the children in Leona Vicario, and loved to sing.

Mari passed away Monday night from a heart attack. She will be greatly missed. Please keep Tere and the rest of Mari’s family in your prayers.

We’ve set up a memorial fund to help with funeral and burial expenses. If you would like to contribute, please designate your online gift to the “Family Welfare Fund.”

WE HAVE WATER!!

Saturday, February 20, 2021

On February 10, 2021, Living Waters for the World and YPM opened a new purified water plant in Leona Vicario! In the first two hours, 60+ bottles were sold! Ch’e’en Ja’ Agua Purificada (translated: water from the well) is now providing safe and inexpensive water to the people of Leona Vicario and the surrounding villages. The response from the community has been very positive and we are already needing to purchase more bottles, and hire more staff and delivery drivers.

YPM October Update - COVID and HURRICANES

Friday, October 16, 2020

Hello dear friends of YPM,

As you know, our YPM family in Mexico has been continuing to help the Maya people with essential groceries and hot meals throughout the pandemic. Recently, we held our breath as the Yucatan Peninsula braced for two potentially serious hurricanes. Hurricanes Gamma and Delta hit the area with high winds which flooded homes and downed trees and utility poles causing power outages and blocked many roads, but were not as destructive as they could have been, and our team and the people in the area are safe.

YPM COVID Update & News of Hope! - 2020-9-22

Tuesday, September 22, 2020

Dear Friends of YPM,

Covid-19 continues to have a devastating impact around the world, including the region where the YPM base is located in Leona Vicario.  As we all know, accurate counts of Covid-19 cases and deaths are elusive. But best estimates are that Mexico trails only Brazil and the United States in cases and deaths. And Covid-19 appears to be much more deadly in Mexico.

Hello to our Friends in the US,

I hope you and your families are well. Greetings from Mexico.

I am writing to update you on the activities of YPM Mexico during this pandemic and to encourage and inform our sister churches that support us and want to hear from us and know how we are doing.

I want to remind you that our mission is directed to people, sectors and regions with limited resources, indigenous communities and vulnerable groups by age, sex or disability. This is in reference to health, education and spiritual aspects.

YPM COVID-19 Update 2020-6-25

Thursday, June 25, 2020

Dear Friends and Family of YPM,

In these days when the whole world has been affected by Covid-19, life as we knew it in the past has been changed for YPM in Mexico just as here in the United States. Businesses have been closed, jobs have been lost, churches have been unable to meet in person, and students of YPM Institute have switched to on-line instruction. The virus has swept through the area, and many have been sick, although Wilian, Erly, Willy, and Andre have remained safe...
